How Yoga Happened To Me

Before I start writing how Yoga happened to me I must start with the introduction of Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj Ji. Writing an introduction about Swamiji is extremely difficult because words will always fall short of describing him. How can you capture an infinite personality with finite words? He is a dynamic Yogi having a multifaceted, magnetic and versatile personality. He is a spiritual giant who touches the heart of everyone who comes in contact with him. Swamiji naturally radiates peace, love and divinity.  Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj of the Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad, is a beloved disciple of H.H. Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj.

As per his worshipful Gurudev's instructions he is continuously spreading the message of sages of the yore and sharing the knowledge of ancient cultural and scientific heritage of ancient India through Yoga, Pranayama, and Meditation. His discourses on the subjects like Gita, Upanishads, Srimad Bhagavat Gita etc. in most simple language has touched and inspired millions of listeners in last thirty-five years of his monastic life. His unparalleled devotion, loyalty and obedience to the master in all circumstances is noteworthy. At present, he is the Spiritual Head of Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad as well as of Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh.

During the year 1983, I was in Udhampur (J&K) with my husband who was in the army. We received information that Army Commander Gen Chhibber had invited a very competent Yoga Guru to the station who would be running Yoga classes for officers & families of station. I volunteered for the same and now I realise that it was the most fortunate moment of my life. Yoga Guru was Swami Adhyatmanandaji who was in mid forties then but looked to be in early thirties. His teachings had such a profound impact on me that till date I have been following his guidance for thirty years.

I kept in touch with Swamiji all through. During 2006, I went to Ahmedabad to Swamiji's Sivananda Ashram & underwent an intensive Teacher Training Course with him. It was an enthralling and enlightening experience. He is a strict disciplinarian, prompt, precise and punctual.

Later, on more than two occasions, Swamiji visited Hyderabad & it was my pleasure to meet him and listen to his discourses. The best attribute of Swamiji is that he does not believe in any publicity about himself but I am sanguine that he is the best exponent of Yoga. I consider myself blessed that I was initiated into Yoga by Swamiji and continue to get his blessings all through. Even if the guru is far away, it does not matter. A mother continues caring for her child even if he is on the other side of the world.

Let me offer my salutations to my Guru who has taught me and also helped me achieve my current spiritual state.
